LAHORE: Wahab Riaz, Pakistan’s famous bowler, has been chosen as interim sports minister of Punjab in the 11-member caretaker cabinet.
The quick bowler is currently representing Khulna Tigers in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2023 and will take the minister’s oath upon his return to Pakistan.
The left-arm bowler has played in 156 international matches for Pakistan, taking 237 wickets.
Notably, Wahab Riaz was a member of the ICC Champions Trophy winning squad in 2017.
It is worth noting that eight ministers, SM Tanveer, Dr. Javed Akram, Ibrahim Murad, Dr. Jamal Nasir, Mansoor Qadir, Syed Azfar Ali Nasir, and Amir Mir, took the oath today [Jan 26].
The newly-appointed cabinet members were sworn in at the Governor’s House by Governor Baligh Ur Rehman. Mohsin Naqvi, the caretaker chief minister (CM), was also present at the oath-taking event.
