ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Saturday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be “tried” in a confidence vote, similar to the one he faced as Prime Minister in April last year.
Imran told a private news channel that Shehbaz had put the PTI to the test and that the party will now turn the tables on the prime minister.
He threatened to cause Shehbaz so much stress that the Prime Minister would have to use sleeping pills. However, the PTI leader did not divulge his intentions. Imran stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly would be dissolved within a week after the Punjab Assembly.
The PTI chairman went on to say that the party will thrash out the details of the action in a party meeting on Sunday and that complete preparation would be carried out for not just the confidence vote but also other measures. He claimed that the Pakistan Democratic Alliance and the administration are unaware of the passage of time.
Imran Khan praised PMLQ leader Moonis Elahi for ‘working hard’ at the last minute to get the needed numbers in reference to Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi’s recent vote of confidence.
He said that Sindh ministers came with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to purchase PTI lawmakers. “Unknown numbers were also calling our legislators. They were told that Imran Khan will not become Prime Minister.”
He stated that Pervaiz Elahi’s sacrifice was much appreciated inside the PTI. He stated that they were considering merging Pervaiz Elahi’s party with the PTI.
He stated that only the PTI ticket will win in the forthcoming elections, hence it was also in the PMLQ’s best interests. He stated that a strong government capable of making difficult decisions was required.
