WASHINGTON: The United States has offered Pakistan assistance in combating the risks presented by terrorists amid the escalating number of terrorist attacks there.

Ned Price, a spokesperson for the US State Department, made these comments in response to a query about terrorism and the hostage situation at a counterterrorism facility in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

We have been paying close attention to news that extremists had taken over the Bannu counterterrorism center. We extend our sincere condolences to those who were hurt,” said Ned Price.

“The Pakistani government is a partner in addressing these common issues, such as the threat posed by terrorist organizations operating within Afghanistan. We are prepared to help, whether it be with this current problem or others, he stated.

Ned Price stated in response to a different query on the verbal spat between the Pakistani and Indian foreign ministers last week at the UN: “We have a worldwide strategic alliance with India. The extent of our collaboration with Pakistan was just mentioned by me. The two connections are independent of one another. It’s not a one-sided arrangement.
