WASHINGTON: Principal Deputy Spokesman at the US Department of State Vedant Patel stated Tuesday that the United States has nothing to do with Zalmay Khalilzad’s views about the political situation in Pakistan.
At a news conference in Washington, Vedant Patel stated Zalmay Khalilzad’s speech has nothing to do with our American foreign policy and that his statements are in his personal capacity.
“Zalmay Khalilzad’s statement had nothing to do with American foreign policy,” said the Biden administration.
He emphasized that violence, harassment, or threats do not intervene in politics, we encourage political parties to obey the law.
An official from the US State Department stated that democratic and constitutional processes should be used to elect the leader of any nation.
It should be noted that Zalmay Khalilzad, a former US ambassador, advocated for early elections in Pakistan and twice supported Imran Khan’s position.
Although other PDM leaders, notably Maulana Fazlur Rehman, denounced Zalmay Khalilzad’s words as an intervention in Pakistan’s domestic affairs, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan opposed them.
