NEW DELHI: According to an INOX representative, the Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt, starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, will be released in India on Friday. This might be the first film from Pakistan to be released in India in over a decade.
“It will be shown in Punjab and a few INOX cinemas in Delhi where there are Punjabi-speaking people,” said Rajender Singh Jyala, chief programming officer of INOX Leisure Ltd.
PVR Cinemas posted a release notification on their official Instagram page but quickly removed it. “Introducing #TheLegendofMaulaJatt’s official poster!” “Coming this Friday to PVR,” the message said.
The action film was released in Pakistan on October 13, and it has since become the highest-grossing Pakistani movie of all time, earning USD 10 million. Producers have said that Bilal Lashari’s The Legend of Maula Jatt is neither a remake nor a sequel to the 1979 cult film Maula Jatt.
