ISLAMABAD: Later on, Friday, police detained prominent PTI officials, including senior vice president Shireen Mazari and PTI Central Punjab President Yasmin Rashid.
Following violent rallies on Tuesday, crackdowns against PTI senior leadership and employees continue all around the nation.
Shireen Mazari was taken into custody after a police raid on the former federal minister’s home in the E/7 district of the federal capital, according to reports. PTI leader has been taken to the police station in Abpara.
Shireen Mazari’s daughter Iman reported that 50 police officers raided their home and detained her mother in a tweet.
Iman added that the police had allegedly shattered their home’s doors.
Yasmin Rashid was also brought into prison by a Lahore-based police team, according to PTI’s official Twitter account.
Earlier, Qasim Suri, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and a former deputy speaker of the National Assembly was apprehended in Islamabad.
Leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Jamsheed Iqbal Cheema, Musarrat Cheema, Falak Naz Chitrali, and Malika Bukhari, have reportedly been detained for ‘inciting’ violent rallies, according to an Islamabad police spokeswoman.
