ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) summoned the station head officer (SHO) and relevant records in the arrest of former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Friday.
Awami Muslim League (AML) head and former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, a close adviser to PTI chief Imran Khan, was arrested in the early hours of Thursday from his Rawalpindi residence.
In the Islamabad High Court, Justice Mahmood Jahangiri was hearing a contempt petition filed by Sheikh Rasheed’s nephew.
At the start of the hearing, the court asked the applicant to demonstrate how the police violated the law. According to Justice Jahangiri, the IHC only cancelled the summons issued to Sheikh Rasheed and did not prevent police from filing a case against him.
According to the plaintiff’s lawyer, the report has been summoned now that the case is in court. When people are released on bail in one case, they are arrested in another.
While asking the plaintiff’s attorney to convince the court of the contempt proceedings, the IHC bench chose to hear the case with the primary plea.
The case has been adjourned until Monday for further hearing. AGP, the advocate general, has received notices.
