Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali believes Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan is ready to lead Pakistan.
When questioned if Shadab can lead the national team, the pacer stated that Shadab is always ready to take on any task.
“He is ready [for Pakistan captaincy]. In the PSL, he has proven himself as a captain. I believe he has also led Pakistan in two matches, so I believe he is prepared. If he is given the opportunity, he will take advantage of it. “He is always up for a challenge and gives his all,” Hasan remarked.
Babar Azam, Pakistan’s current captain, has faced criticism for his captaincy after failing to win a single Test at home against England and New Zealand.
The New Zealanders also defeated Pakistan in the just-finished ODI series, putting even more pressure on Babar.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is rumored to be considering splitting the leadership role and even replacing Azam as captain in one of the forms.
Shadab is Pakistan’s vice-captain in limited-overs cricket. However, due to injury, he missed the latest ODI series against New Zealand, and Shan Masood was named vice-captain for that series.
