
According to a notification released by the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday, Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial has taken suo motu notice of the “brutal” murder of journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya.
Today at 12:30 pm, a five-member bench presided over by the CJP will hear the case. Justices Ijaz Ul Ahsan, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, and Muhammad Ali Mazhar will sit on the bench in addition to the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
The president of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, the director generals of the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA), the Intelligence Bureau, the interior secretary, the foreign secretary, and the information secretary have all received notifications from the CJP, according to the court.
