In a case brought against her for allegedly publishing contentious footage of her husband, Dania Shah, the widow of prominent televangelist Aamir Liaquat, had her post-arrest bail request granted by the Sindh High Court on Tuesday.
Before Hussain passed away last year, a few of his films went viral, sparking debate about his abrupt passing and unexplained circumstances.
Later, a case was brought against Dania Shah based on the daughter of the late TV personality, Dua Aamir, who accused him of involvement in the release of the contentious footage.
Dania had been detained by the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing Lodhran during a search in December 2022, and on January 6 she was indicted for the allegations brought against her.
The hearing today
Dania’s attorney Advocate Liaquat Gabol argued that there was no evidence against her and that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had conducted a flawed investigation at the hearing of her bail plea in the SHC.
The court accepted Dania’s post-arrest bail after hearing all of her attorney’s arguments, and it ordered her to provide Rs200,000 in surety bonds as collateral for her release.
Dania was detained by the court until her bail was approved. She had gone to the SHC after a sessions court had denied her bail.
