In an effort to reduce air pollution, the Punjab government and the National Highways and Motorway Police signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Lahore that prohibits the use of highways and motorways by vehicles without a valid fitness certificate and a route permission.
At the Lahore ceremony, Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that, with the help of the National Highway Authority (NHA), his province would construct a trauma centre on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway.
Chief Minister Punjab also proclaimed a holiday on this Saturday for schools and public sector offices across the province to minimise smog.
