ISLAMABAD: After allegations that National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf purposefully delayed the case, the PTI has decided to reapply to the Supreme Court to confirm the resignations of its MNAs.
The party’s legal staff has begun preparing for the case because they think the speaker was purposefully delaying action on the matter. The speaker abruptly halted the assembly’s session when the PTI stated that its MNAs would return to present their resignations.
According to PTI sources, Ashraf took a leave of absence after the party’s MNAs declared that they would come before the speaker to have their resignations validated.
The PTI was forced to transfer to the highest court once more due to the NA speaker’s “delay tactics.” According to Article 54 (1) of the Constitution, President Dr. Arif Alvi called a session of the National Assembly on Thursday (today).
The PTI MNAs made the decision to personally come before the NA speaker on Thursday to authenticate their resignations, which had been lingering with him for a number of months despite repeated demands from the party leadership to accept them.
