ISLAMABAD: Today (Thursday), a meeting between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs and National Assembly (NA) Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has been arranged for the personal verification of party resignations.
The NA spokesperson stated on Twitter that former PTI chief whip Malik Amir Dogar and Raja Ashraf held a phone call during which they discussed MNA resignations.
“The speaker informed Dogar that he and the deputy speaker were both present in their offices and were awaiting PTI MNAs,” he said.
Due to Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s “non-availability,” PTI members had already postponed their presence before the NA speaker for the approval of the resignations submitted by the MNAs.
The PTI members’ resignations must be individually confirmed by each party’s MNA, according to a clear regulation that was made public by the National Assembly on Sunday.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi received a letter from the NA Secretariat in response to his letter asking for the resignations of MNAs to be accepted.
In accordance with Paragraph (b) of Sub-Rule (2) of Rule 43 of the Rules of Procedure & Conduct of Business in NA, 2007, the NA speaker had invited PTI MNAs for verification of their resignation.
The letter stated that PTI MNAs had already been called to the NA Speaker’s Chamber for the purpose of verifying resignations from June 6 through June 10, 2022, but none of them had shown up.
