ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed that the previous government arrested political opponents over false corruption allegations.

On his Twitter, he claimed the bad impacts of corruption are well-known how it destroys society and encourages inequality.

The prime minister emphasized the need to improve institutions by stating that “unfortunately our political debate on corruption has been so politicized that it has a soiled image.” Let’s battle this epidemic on Anti-Corruption Day, he urged.

The prime minister referred to corruption as a significant national issue and said that genuine efforts should be made to eradicate it rather than utilizing it as a tool for political sloganeering and point-scoring. He challenged everyone in politics to have a clear plan for getting rid of corruption. He said that because it is a significant barrier to any nation’s growth, today represents the revival of our commitment to eradicating this plague. He emphasized that the PMLN always takes action to combat corruption in the nation, noting that the previous administration did so from 2013 to 2018.

He said that while the CPEC and other mega projects at the federal and provincial levels were started by the PML-N government, not a single instance of corruption was ever established.
