
PESHAWAR: According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, nine people were killed, including a minor girl, and 44 others were injured after a powerful earthquake jolted parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) (PDMA).
Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, India, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan were all affected by the tremors.
An earthquake jolted different cities in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) (AJK).
Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Jehlum, Sargodha, Swat, and their surrounding areas are among the cities.
According to the PMD, the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.8 on the Richter Scale, with the epicenter located in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region at a depth of 180 kilometers.
Bhakkar, Harīpur, Fort Abbas, Chishtian, Chārsadda, Kalabagh, Kotli, Vehari, Mian Channu, Khan Pur, Chakwal, Pākpattan, Noorpur Thal, Bahawal Nagar, Chiniot, Mianwali, Jhang, Okara, Nankana, Narowal, Toba Tek Singh, Bhalowal, Gujrat, Sialkot, Changa Manga, Lalamusa, Sahiwal, Mandi Bahauddin and other adjourned area.
In hospitals, an emergency has been declared.
The PDMA has ordered the administration of all districts in Punjab to be on high alert and to remain on the ground, ready to deal with any emergency situation
According to the PDMA spokesperson, no reports of losses or property have yet been received across Pakistan.
In an emergency, citizens can call the PDMA helpline at 1129.
The capital authorities also notified Polyclinic and PIMS Hospital management and instructed them to prepare for any emergency situation.
