GUJRAT: Police stormed the Gujrat home of former Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi early Wednesday.
According to officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity, a large number of police invaded Parvez Elahi’s home and booked Kunjari House, security guards.
According to the sources, police stormed inside the house using a ladder. They did, however, leave after searching the house. The police department has yet to confirm or refute the raid.
Elahi, on the other hand, verified the raid and stated that the police searched and harassed his employees. “We were not informed about the raid. We will file a lawsuit in response to the raid on our home “Elahi stated.
Ex-principal secretary of Parvez Elahi booked
Several former and current Elahi associates are being investigated following the termination of his tenure as Punjab Chief Minister. Last Monday, Punjab’s anti-corruption authority charged Elahi’s former principal secretary, Mohammad Khan Bhatti, with accepting bribes.
Bhatti is accused of accepting a bribe of more than Rs460 million from employees of the provincial highway department in the first information report (FIR) filed by the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE). SDO Highway Police Rana Muhammad Iqbal has already been charged with bribery accusations, and the ACE has begun the process of arresting Bhatti on corruption charges.
According to the FIR, Iqbal bribed Bhatti to secure positions of his choice.
The news comes just a day after the former Punjab chief minister’s chauffeur and the gunman were arrested in Islamabad for allegedly transporting liquor bottles.
On “Elahi’s orders,” the accused allegedly provided an envelope full of money to Punjab House employee Faheem Mirza in return for a briefcase containing liquor bottles. According to police, the accused further told the magistrate that Faheem and Irshad, the purported workers of Punjab House Islamabad, are frontmen for the previous chief minister.
According to them, both of the suspected frontmen are involved in monetary transactions for Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi. A case against them has been filed at Islamabad’s Secretariat Police Station under several regulations.
