Police raid Pervaiz Elahi’s Gujrat residence

GUJRAT: Police raided the Gujrat home of former Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf president Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi late Monday night, nearly two days after a similar operation in Lahore.

According to reports, police stormed four locations, including Kunjah House, the former CM’s mansion in Gujarat, to arrest him.

During the operation, cops entered Elahi’s home by scaling walls and questioning his employees. Moonis Elahi, the former CM’s son, claimed that despite the fact that the police did not have a search order, he allowed them entrance to the property.

In a tweet, PTI leader Farrukh Habib also criticized the police raids that led to the detention of Pervaiz Elahi. He alleged that the Punjab police receive orders from the federal government.

Anti-corruption and police officials used an armored truck to smash through the main gate of PTI president’s Gulberg residence on Friday night and arrest 12 persons, largely his servants.
