RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Thursday that the government and people of Pakistan were united in their support for Pakistan’s stability and the abolition of terrorism.
He was speaking during a visit to the army cemetery, when he paid his respects at the Martyrs Monument, lay a wreath, and prayed for the souls of martyrs, according to the state news agency.
The event was attended by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir.
The Prime Minister stated that he came to lay the wreath as a representative of the nation and that the flowers he laid were a symbol of respect and gratitude to the martyrs.
He stated that the martyrs – the great sons of the soil – laid down their lives to defend every inch of the country and eradicate terrorism. He claimed that these valiant victims fought the enemy on snow-capped slopes, plains, and deserts, offering their lives to protect the country.
Children of these martyrs were orphaned, but they protected millions of children in the country from becoming orphans, and Pakistan was in safe hands because of them, he continued. “The great sons of the soil” he added, “remain awake at night to ensure that we sleep peacefully and that our businesses and fields grow and remain green.”
“Today, we salute these great martyrs, and we pledge that as a nation, we will not forget the incident of May 9 when, unfortunately, an individual lured his rioting gangs, who dishonored the martyrs and ghazis and carried out attacks on military installations,” the prime minister stated.
“We guarantee that these terrorists will be completely annihilated in accordance with the law and that such incidents will not occur again.” “I salute these martyrs’ great mothers and children.”
According to the prime minister, the holy Quran states that “do not call the martyrs dead because they are alive.” They are respected by Allah and should not be dishonored. Those who insult the martyrs invite Allah’s wrath and disobey Quranic injunctions. They are guilty in the eyes of the people of Pakistan.”
He appealed to Allah Almighty to raise the martyrs’ ranks in Jannah and inspire others to follow in their footsteps and even sacrifice their lives while carrying out their obligations.
He claimed that some elements put their egos and personal interests ahead of Pakistan’s objectives and deceived others.
“We beseech Allah to put us on the right path and to sustain the courage of the jawans and officers of the armed forces to preserve Pakistan’s stability and eradicate terrorism with all their energies,” he said.
