ISLAMABAD: On Friday, PM Shehbaz left for Turkey on an official tour at the request of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

During his visit, the prime minister will jointly inaugurate the third of four MILGEM Class Corvette Ships for the Pakistan Navy, PNS Khyber, at the Istanbul Shipyard, according to a press statement.

Prior to his departure, the pm stated in an early morning tweet that high-level exchanges are a distinguishing characteristic of the two countries cooperation.

“The inauguration of the third MILGEM Corvette Ship marks an expansion of our two fraternal countries’ security cooperation.” “High-level exchanges are a distinguishing aspect of our collaboration,” he stated.

The Pakistan-Türkiye strategic partnership, which is still growing and is on an upward trajectory, has reached a critical turning point with the MILGEM project, which is based on cooperative cooperation between the two nations.

Shehbaz will also meet with leaders of the Turkish business community. During his visit to Istanbul, the president of the ECO Trade and Development Bank (ETDB) will also meet with the Prime Minister.

According to the announcement, the first corvette for the Pakistan Navy, PNS Babur, was launched in Istanbul in August 2021, while the second ship, PNS Badr, was laid down in Karachi in May 2022.
