ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called a parliamentary party meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML) for today (Monday).
According to sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will preside over the meeting, which will take place at the Parliamentary House at 1:00 p.m.
The consultation will take place during the meeting to develop a strategy for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to sources, the Prime Minister will seek advice and opinions from members of parliament on the elections.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the National Assembly session.
Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, on the other hand, refuted news attributed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday, claiming that the latter was opposed to holding elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“This is a lie,” she said, calling the recent news about an important meeting chaired by the prime minister in Lahore a “fabricated one.”
The minister also urged the media to only publish news issued by the Prime Minister’s Office or the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
“False, baseless, and malicious rumors should not be reported as news,” she said emphatically.
