PM, others congratulate Pakistan cricket team on securing ICC top slot

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PCB Chief Najam Sethi, and others congratulated Pakistan on securing the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings by defeating New Zealand in the fourth One Day International match.

“Today is a special day because Pakistan has surpassed India to become the top-ranked ODI cricket team.” “The manner in which the Green Shirts defeated New Zealand to secure the top spot in the ICC rankings is simply outstanding,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a Twitter post.

“My heartfelt congratulations to the Pakistan Cricket Team, the PCB, Babar Azam, and the entire nation,” he said.

“I congratulate Pakistan Captain Babar Azam, the entire team, and the coaching staff, who deserve congratulations on this momentous occasion,” said Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Management Committee Najam Sethi in a message. “I am extremely proud of this team and wish them the best,” he said.

By defeating New Zealand by 102 runs in the fourth ODI, the squad claimed first place in the ICC Men’s ODI squad Rankings. Australia and India both have 113 points, however, Pakistan has taken the lead because of their higher ranking in prior matches.

England and New Zealand are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.
