Pervaiz Elahi decides to move LHC against police raid

LAHORE: Former chief minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Pervaiz Elahi has decided to file a complaint with the Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding a police raid on his residence on Zahoor Elahi Road in Lahore.

According to Amir Saeed Rawn, an advocate, a contempt court plea would be filed in Lahore High Court against the Police raid.

He claimed that the police raid on the former chief minister’s house was a violation of court orders because he had been given bail in this matter.

Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) team, along by a large number of Punjab Police, stormed former Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi’s house on Zahoor Elahi Road in Lahore on Friday.

During the raid, police arrested at least 25 people, including servants working in the former Punjab chief minister’s household.

The police entered the property by climbing over the wall, and an armored personnel carrier (APC) police officer broke down the main gate.

While attempting to enter the house, police officers were met with resistance from residents who pelted stones at them.

It is worth noting that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was granted bail in the case where he was charged with ‘corruption’ worth Rs120 million by the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).
