French media business Mediawan said on Friday that it has acquired the bulk of the stock in the US actor Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B Entertainment. The acquisition is thought to have cost more than $300 million.
Three best picture Oscar wins has come from the production company Plan B, which Pitt co-founded with his then-wife Jennifer Aniston in the early 2000s: “The Departed,” “Twelve Years a Slave,” and “Moonlight.”
The French business stated in a news statement that the agreement “marks the deployment of Mediawan into the American market,” although it did not specify the value of the transaction. According to The Financial Times, Plan B Entertainment was worth more than $300 million after the transaction.
“International film is growing. Around the world, talents are sprouting “Pitt said in an interview with the daily Le Parisien.
“We have to go outside the United States for our future initiatives.”We “have the same vision of how to develop films and series” with Mediawan, he continued.
Mediawan CEO Pierre-Antoine Capton described the agreement as “an extraordinary chance to be able to build Mediawan with Plan B, the most beautiful independent production business in the US” in a news statement.
Since its establishment in 2015, Mediawan has acquired various production companies around Europe. It also produces and distributes movies, television episodes, and streaming content.
