LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) leader assured the Lahore High Court on Friday that he would not dissolve the Punjab Assembly, as a result, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi was reinstated as the provincial chief minister.
A five-member bench presided over by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh, heard Elahi’s appeal challenging Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman’s decision to de-notify him as the province chief minister.
Following the PTI leader’s submission of an assurance that he wouldn’t dissolve the provincial parliament before January 11 and the court’s announcement of its directions, the Punjab cabinet was also reinstalled. The hearing was postponed until January 11 by the court.
Rehman de-notified CM Elahi in the early hours of Friday for refusing to accept a vote of confidence from the provincial legislature on his order on Wednesday, December 21.
