LHC prohibits PTI from Holding rally at Minar-e-Pakistan

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was prevented from staging a demonstration at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday.

During the course of hearing a plea submitted by PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry to stop the “atrocities” near Zaman Park, Judge Tariq Saleem Sheikh of the LHC gave instructions.

In order to stop the day-long skirmishes that started when police attempted to arrest the PTI chairman in the Toshakhana case, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday ordered police operations at former premier Imran Khan’s Zaman Park mansion to cease till 10 am (Thursday).

Today’s hearing

Judge Saleem stated that neither of the parties concerned in the case had examined the law before to the hearing. The PTI attorney was chastised by the LHC judge for addressing the arrest warrants for Imran Khan in the incorrect courts.

Fawad Chaudhry was informed by the judge that his party was not abiding by the law.

The party, he continued, should have planned its public rally in Lahore. He remarked, “PSL is taking place and PTI should postpone its demonstration.

The judge said, “For God’s sake, let the people go about their daily lives.

The party head was then instructed by the judge to meet with the relevant parties and resolve the matter.

It is important to note that Imran Khan, a former prime minister and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had previously declared that a power display would be held at the Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday.
