The Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered vehicle seizures on Wednesday due to improper parking in the provincial capital.
While hearing a petition seeking the court’s intervention to combat smog, the LHC bench issued directives. The hearing on the petition of citizen Haroon Farooq and others was resumed by Justice Shahid Karim.
The single bench of the LHC ordered that the number of fines for traffic offenses in the city be increased because the high penalty would simply scare people.
The court also ordered traffic officers to continue their crackdown on motorcycle riders who are not wearing helmets.
Justice Shahid Karim summoned its legal team to address the issue of accumulated rainwater in the CBD Underpass.
During the most recent hearing, the Lahore High Court ordered the authorities to close restaurants that do not have parking.
The LHC also directed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to stop unauthorized parking throughout the city, especially on service lanes.
