LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench directed on Friday that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman election be held within a week.
In addition, the court ordered that the Management Committee notify the Board of Governors within 15 days.
The court stated that political involvement in the country’s sports infrastructure caused significant harm.
Rawalpindi Cricket Association President Naveed Abbasi filed the petition against the PCB Board of Governors.
According to the petitioner, the Board of Governors contains the top four teams from the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, including Rawalpindi and Karachi.
He mentioned that the board, which was created on June 22, has representatives from Larkana, Hyderabad, and Dera Murad Jamali.
PCB lawyer Imtiaz Ali Siddiqui appeared in court at the case hearing.
On June 22, the federal government appointed a new Board of Governors, according to the lawyer.
The court ordered that a new Board of Governors be constituted by establishing a schedule, followed by elections for the chairman.
