Law minister in action to stop the unplanned expansion of Housing Societies

ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar has emphasized the importance of effective housing sector regulation in order to prevent the uncontrolled proliferation of housing societies.

According to a news release issued on Saturday, he stated that, despite various regulations, unorganized expansion of housing societies was on the rise, which was not a positive trend, and that, rather than aiding in regulating, multiple rules are causing confusion.

He underlined the need for controlled activities in the housing industry in meeting people’s expanding housing demands. He believes the federal capital should be built as a model city for future generations.

Tarar praised the Ministry of Housing and Works and the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) for organizing the first International Housing Expo to bring all stakeholders together on a single platform. During his visit to the 1st International Housing Expo at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, he voiced these thoughts.

He went around the Expo stalls and was impressed by the items and ideas on exhibit. Speaking on the occasion, ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari stated that the CDA’s building ordinances were enacted many years ago and were no longer assisting in the development of commercial and industrial structures in accordance with contemporary needs.
