KP police say overall 809 rioters arrested after May 9 violence

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police stated on Sunday that 809 rioters were arrested on terrorism charges following the May 9 unrest.

According to a report, as many as 18 first information reports (FIRs) were filed in the aftermath of Imran Khan’s detention on May 9.

According to the KP police report, 267 people have been arrested in Peshawar, 216 in Mardan, and 114 in Kohat.

Former provincial ministers and assembly members have also been charged with terrorism for instigating violence. “All elected members are on the run after being nominated in the cases,” according to the article.

Previously, it was revealed that the majority of the perpetrators of violence and sabotage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been identified.

The authorities also released the identities of those who had been identified as being involved in violent protests.
