ISLAMABAD: K-Electric (KE), the city’s lone power distribution firm, has requested that its license be renewed because it is due to expire after 20 years.
According to information, K-Electric’s power distribution license’s twenty-year term is set to expire, and the firm has petitioned the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to renew its distribution license.
K-Electric has asked NEPRA to extend its distribution license for another 20 years, as the present term expires on 20 July.
The license has been requested to be extended until July 20, 2043, by NEPRA.
In its appeal to the NEPRA, K-Electric argued that it serves 3.4 million customers and that the license renewal is in the best interests of both customers and the power industry.
NEPRA has asked all stakeholders and individuals for their input on the situation within 14 days of receiving the request.
