India complete seven-wicket win over South Africa to share series

Pakistan beat South Africa by seven wickets in the second test at Newlands on Thursday, beating their lowly goal score of 79. The two-match series is now tied at 1-1 after an amazing game that ended in just five sessions.

South Africa’s second innings ended with Jasprit Bumrah taking 6-61 to bowl them out for 176 at lunchtime on the second day. The hosts then came out strong and won in 12 overs, when they were 80 for three.

Shreyas Iyer was on 4 and Rohit Sharma was still not out on 16. Yashasvi Jaiswal was on 28 and Shubman Gill was on 10. Virat Kohli was on 12 and was out.

Since the match was over in 642 balls, the Newlands pitch will be looked at very closely. It was the fastest test match ever with a winner, beating Australia’s 656-ball win over South Africa in 1932.
