As the rivalry among international digital behemoths and domestic Internet companies to entice artists to their separate platforms in the country heats up, YouTube is praising the economic potential of its creative ecosystem in India.
According to a report by the consulting firm Oxford Economics released on December 19, the Google-owned platform claimed that its growing community of creative entrepreneurs supported the equivalent of 7,50,000 full-time jobs in India in 2021 and contributed over Rs 10,000 crore (PKR 272 billion) to the Indian GDP.
Since YouTube last revealed these statistics for 2020 on March 3, 2022, there has been a significant increase. According to the analysis, the YouTube creator ecosystem provided the equivalent of 6,83,900 full-time jobs in 2020 and contributed Rs 6,800 crore to India’s GDP.
