Imran predicts elections in March or April

LAHORE: Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and a former prime minister, has projected that the country’s general elections might take place in March or April 2023.

Imran stated that the court has granted them time to take a vote of confidence in him while addressing a small number of media on Saturday at his Zaman Park mansion. After Governor Balighur Rehman had removed Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi from office on Thursday for failing to seek a vote of confidence, the Lahore High Court reinstalled him as chief minister of Punjab on Friday.

Imran has stated that the Punjab Assembly would be dissolved on December 23 and on December 17. (Friday). However, the governor had on December 19 instructed CM Elahi to take a vote of confidence two days before the PTI chief’s deadline in an effort to avert the dissolution.

But that didn’t happen because Speaker Sibtain Khan declared that the assembly was already in session and that calling a new one would be against the law.

On the condition that Elahi did not dissolve the Punjab Assembly prior to the next hearing on January 11, the LHC reinstalled Elahi as the CM.
