Imran Khan’s arrest from court an ill-conceived act: Shahid Khaqan

KARACHI: Former Prime Minister and PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi remarked on Monday that Imran Khan’s arrest outside a courthouse was an ill-conceived act.

“Traditions are very important,” the former Prime Minister remarked in an interview with the media.

“A man has been under investigation in a NAB case, and he should be granted bail,” Abbasi remarked. “The court said he couldn’t be arrested in any case,” he explained.

“I propose a simple solution to the Supreme Court: dissolve the NAB,” he remarked.

According to the former prime minister, “There are different criteria for Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, Shahid Khaqan, and Imran Khan.”

“This case against me has lasted three years,” he explained. “The country has a number of other issues,” he explained. “People have lost faith in the justice system,” he noted.

“Now that the military installations are no longer safe, the court should have taken suo moto notice of the incident,” he added.

Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other defendants appeared before a Karachi accountability court in a NAB case involving the improper appointment of the former managing director of Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

The court postponed its ruling on an application to remand the case to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). On May 30, the court will issue its ruling on the plea.

Previously, the accused’s counsel contended that due to a change in the NAB statute, the court no longer has jurisdiction to hear the matter.
