IHC seeks details of cases against Asad Umar

Asad Umar, the secretary general of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and a former federal minister, is now being held under the 3MPO, and the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday requested information on the cases that have been filed against him.

Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb of the Islamabad High Court was hearing the case.

Amina Ali Advocate and Dr. Babar Awan came to court on behalf of Asad Umar and made arguments in support of the former minister.

The hearing was postponed until Monday at the request of attorney Babar Awan, who also asked the court to send notice to both parties.

Babar Awan asked to postpone the case hearing till Monday. Justice Mian Gul Aurangzeb responded, “Do you want to enjoy the weekend?”

The State Council is required to make an appropriate response after receiving the court notification. The notice requests that First Information Reports (FIRs) be filed against Asad Umar. To continue deliberating on the case, the court has set the next hearing for Tuesday.

It is important to note that Asad Umar, the secretary general of PTI, appealed his MPO detention to the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Through Babar Awan and Amna Ali, Asad Umar contested his MPO arrest before the Islamabad High Court. Respondents in the plea include the Secretary of the Interior, the IG of Police, and others.
In his plea, the former federal minister claimed that, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s ruling, no arrests may be made on high court property. My fundamental human rights were violated during my arrest from the IHC grounds, Umar added in his plea.

He begged the judge to overturn his arrest and order his release.

Asad Umar, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was detained on May 10 on the grounds of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
