GWADAR: By March of this year, the coastal area of Makran division will be connected to the under-construction Pak-Iran transmission line, and it will get an additional 100MW of power from Iran.
This was revealed by high transmission line executive engineer Zafar Ali Chalgari during a meeting with Gwadar Development Authority Director General Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani on Saturday.
He addressed GDA officials on the status of the under-construction Pak-Iran transmission line, estimating that the Iranian side transmission line would be completed by March and the Basima-Panjgur transmission line would be completed by June.
Mr. Chalgari stated that work on grade stations in the Phalan area of Iran and Jewani on the Pakistani side was also underway and that the 30km line would be built.
He stated that after the transmission line and grid stations are completed, 100MW of additional electricity from Iran will be added to Gwadar’s current power supply system.
With the addition of 100 MW of power, not only will the port city have a continuous power supply, but also the fully operational Gwadar industrial park, according to GDA Director General Qambrani. He expressed hope that the enhanced power supply will meet the whole Makran division’s electricity needs.
