From now on, I'll be the first to speak up in defense of Gen. (ret.) Bajwa: Parvez Elahi

Punjab CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has stated that if anything further is made against the former army chief, he and his party will be the first to protect him.

When Parvez made the claim, he was referring to Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who had criticized Gen. (ret.) Bajwa in his speech to party members on Saturday.

The former army leader was a “benefactor,” Parvez added, adding that nothing should be spoken about benefactors. “I felt really awful when Khan was speaking against Gen (retd) Bajwa,” he said.

The Punjab CM reminded the PTI leader that “Gen (retd) Bajwa has many favors on him (Khan) thus the favors shouldn’t be forgotten.” He claimed that although they are PTI allies rather than rivals, they must forget the favors of their “benefactors.”

“General Faiz Hamid, a retired general, mistreated us severely and attempted to imprison us. He wasn’t on our side “said Parvez. The chief minister of Punjab claimed that Imran Khan did not allow Moonis Elahi, a former federal minister, to sit with him but that Imran Khan was supported by the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).

When Imran Khan requested to dissolve the Punjab Assembly, “we agreed right away,” he said.
