Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari arrived in Moscow on Sunday for a two-day official visit.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto and Commerce Minister Syed Naveed Qamar are also scheduled to visit Washington soon as part of Pakistan’s efforts to re-engage with the US.

Mr. Bhutto-Zardari was greeted in Moscow by senior Russian foreign ministry officials, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Shafqat Ali Khan, and other embassy officials.

Foreign Minister Bilawal is in Russia at the request of his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, according to the Foreign Office. The two foreign ministers are due to meet for official talks on Monday (today).

On January 19, a Russian delegation led by Russia’s Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov arrived in Islamabad to discuss methods to strengthen bilateral economic and commercial relations, with a focus on delivering inexpensive oil and gas to Pakistan.

The Russian minister said Pakistan may pay for energy supplies from Russia in the currencies of “friendly countries”.

“I’ve been invited to speak at the international luncheon of the annual National Prayer Breakfast and will make an in-and-out journey for it,” Foreign Minister Bhutto-Zardari.
