LAHORE:

The first school in Lahore designed just for transgender students was inaugurated on Wednesday by the Punjab School Education Department (SED). The school was opened by Punjab Murad Raas, the provincial education minister, at New Garden Town, next to Barkat Market.

The school, which began operations on Wednesday, will operate in two shifts, the first of which will be devoted to the delivery of general education and the latter to the teaching of technical skills. Free textbooks, clothes, school supplies, and pick-up and drop-off services will be made available to students.

In the province, three transgender schools are already operating in Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan.
