
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif chaired a federal cabinet meeting on Friday to review the Supreme Court’s decision in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf head Imran Khan’s arrest case.
The federal cabinet is meeting to examine Imran Khan’s detention and the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn NAB’s arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
The group also examined the broader political and economic situation in the country.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) judgments were also approved by the federal cabinet.
On Thursday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief’s arrest was deemed “illegal” by the Supreme Court of Pakistan after a three-member bench ordered the police to produce him before the court.
While hearing the former prime minister’s appeal against his arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case, a three-member bench comprised of Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Athar Minallah, and the CJP called the Rangers’ arrest from inside the courtroom “illegal” and ordered his immediate release.
