ECP announces elections to be held in Punjab on May 14

Following the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision to overturn the postponement of elections in Punjab, the electoral watchdog issued a revised schedule on Wednesday.

General elections for the Punjab Assembly will now be held on May 14.

In this regard, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a notification with a partial change in the election schedule.

According to the new schedule, the deadline for filing appeals against returning officers’ (ROs’) decisions on nomination papers is April 10.

All such applications must be resolved by the appellate tribunal by April 17.

The ECP will then publish the revised list of candidates the following day.

The deadline for withdrawal of candidacy and publication of the revised list of candidates is April 19, and candidates will be assigned election symbols on April 20.
