Dr Yasmin Rashid, other PTI leaders arrested again after being released by LHC

Despite the Lahore High Court’s decision to halt the detention of 17 women, including Dr. Yasmin Rashid, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Punjab President and former Punjab health minister, Lahore police have apprehended her.

The government’s campaign on PTI continues, as Dr. Rashid’s arrest is linked to riot charges stemming from widespread rallies following the arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan on May 9.

Rashid was arrested at Services Hospital because she was wanted by police in connection with three separate offenses, according to police sources.

The cases against her have been filed at the police stations on Sarwar Road, Gulberg, and Shadman, and they involve terrorism and other serious crimes.

Rashid was admitted to the hospital due to her deteriorating health problems; it is worth noting. Officers from the Model Town division arrived to arrest her. Given her medical condition, the police have opted to hold Dr. Rashid in prison at the hospital.

According to the high court’s judgment, the 17 women, including Dr. Rashid, were set to be released from Kot Lakhpat jail.

Speaking to the reporters outside the jail, advocate Muhammed Rashid revealed that he had received a release order from the Supreme Court for his female colleague. Despite the court decision, all of the women were detained again in separate situations shortly after their release.

Rashid was admitted to the hospital due to her deteriorating health. According to party insiders, she is suffering from respiratory issues.

PTI leader was arrested on May 12 under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO), as the police crackdown on party leaders continued, with raids conducted in Islamabad and Lahore in response to increasingly violent rallies by party members.

Rashid was charged in several cases, including an attack on the mansion of the Lahore Corps Commander.

‘Immediate discharge’

PTI has sought the quick release of other key members who are still imprisoned.

“Our leaders and peaceful Pakistanis are still detained; we demand their immediate release!” PTI sent out a tweet.

Asad Umar, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhary, Ejaz Chaudhary, Ali Mohammad Khan, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, and Omar Sarfaraz Cheema are among the leaders still detained.

Section three of the MPO was used to arrest all of these leaders.
