ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, the divisions between the government’s partners widened as Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s worries about Clause 230 of the Election Act remained unresolved.
According to sources, the administration will not gain PPP support until its worries about Article 230 are resolved. PPP contends that the caretaker government’s powers have been expanded in an unnecessary way.
The major job of the caretaker administration is to oversee the day-to-day business and hold transparent elections; however, PPP has stated that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is not trusting the allies on critical issues.
Furthermore, PPP insiders claim that the parliamentary committee did not take their ideas about Article 230 of the Election Act seriously.
The committee did not agree with the PPP’s suggestion to include transitional provisions in Class 2A of the Election Act.
