RIYADH: Cristiano Ronaldo has made waves for his unusual celebration after scoring the game-winning goal for Al-Nassr, as he bowed for a Sujud followed by his typical celebration.
Cristiano Ronaldo performed a Sujud, which is a low bow or prostration to Allah facing the qiblah (Kabba direction in Mecca).
The renowned footballer then performed his trademark “Siiuuu” celebration.
The Portuguese legend scored the game-winning goal in the 59th minute as Al Nassr rallied from a 2-0 deficit to keep their title aspirations alive in the Saudi Pro League.
The Riyadh derby was critical for second-placed Al Nassr since defeat would mean that leader Al-Ittihad, who beat Al-Batin 1-0 earlier in the day, would be crowned Saudi Pro League champions with two games to spare.
Cristian Guanca scored the scoring for Al-Shabab in the 24th minute from the penalty spot after Luiz Gustavo was penalized for handball.
Guanca then doubled their lead in the 40th minute, however, the lead was short-lived as Talisca scored to narrow the deficit for Al Nassr.
In the 51st minute, Abdulrahman Ghareeb equalized after being left unmarked in the box and slotting home from close range.
Just before the hour mark, Cristiano Ronaldo put Al Nassr ahead by running past two defenders and curling a goal into the top corner from the edge of the area.
It’s worth noting that this was Ronaldo’s 14th goal for Al Nassr since joining the club following the FIFA World Cup.
