COAS Asim Munir, US Centcom chief discuss regional security

RAWALPINDI: According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) release, US Central Command (Centcom) chief General Michael Erik Kurilla met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir at the military’s General Headquarters on Monday.

According to the ISPR, Commander Centcom met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir and addressed areas of mutual interest, regional security situation and stability, defense and security cooperation, particularly military-to-military connections.

The visiting dignitary praised Pakistan’s successes in the fight against terrorism as well as its efforts to promote regional peace and stability.

During his final visit in 2022, the US Centcom chief lay a floral wreath at Martyrs’ Monument in honor of Pakistani martyrs.

A well-dressed unit of the Pakistan army stood guard for the visiting dignitary.

The visiting dignitary also paid a visit to Torkham, where he was briefed on anti-terrorism and border management systems in place along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
