Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Chairman of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), has requested the immediate release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shireen Mazari.
According to reports, the BNP chairman stated that such treatment of women is unacceptable and that women, regardless of party affiliation, should not be pulled into politics.
He condemned the way the former federal minister was treated and demanded that she be released immediately.
Shireen Mazari, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was detained outside Adiala jail shortly after her release.
Shireen Mazari’s daughter Imaan Mazari said in a tweet that she was waiting for her mother outside Adiala jail, but she was caught again by Islamabad police shortly after her release.
Shireen Mazari, PTI leader, was released from Adiala Central Jail. The incarceration of PTI leader Shirin Mazari under the MPO-3 was found illegal by the Islamabad High Court.
A high court bench led by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb found the district magistrate’s detention order under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) unconstitutional and ordered Shirin Mazari’s immediate release.
Shireen Mazari’s daughter, Iman Mazari, has contested the arrest at the high court, with Zainab Janjua Advocate representing the petitioner.
