WASHINGTON: On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken phoned Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to express his nation’s unwavering support for Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.
Blinken emphasized his continuous support for the people of Pakistan as they recover from the recent catastrophic floods in a statement released by the State Department spokeswoman. Both presidents expressed their shared optimism for a fruitful international meeting on Pakistan’s climate resilience in January. The statement ended, “The secretary expressed condolences for the lives lost in recent terrorist assaults and emphasized the United States’ steadfast support for Pakistan as it combats terrorism.”
Later, Bilawal tweeted that he had expressed the government of Pakistan’s thanks for the $97 million US flood help. Will continue working together to establish a strong infrastructure, to further develop and widen bilateral ties and contribute to regional peace and stability, he added.
