QUETTA: In one week, Customs Balochistan captured 86 thousand bags of contraband urea and sugar. Customs officers estimated that the urea and sugar confiscated from Khuzdar, Nushki, and Gaddani were worth Rs 40 crore.
Customs agents seized 26407 bags of urea and 8209 bags of sugar from Khuzdar.
Customs agents had previously intercepted a container containing urea fertilizer at the Torkham border.
According to Additional Collector Customs Muhammad Tayeb, during a search of an export container at the border crossing, officials discovered a cargo of 40 tonnes of urea fertilizer being smuggled to Afghanistan.
“Fake rice cargo documents were prepared for the container, which was carrying urea,” the official stated.
“The export of urea from the country has been strictly prohibited,” he went on to say.
“Customs officials have filed a case, taken custody of the container, and arrested an accused,” he said.
