Ancelotti keen to remain at Real beyond 2026

Carlo Ancelotti said he wanted to stay at Real Madrid past 2026. Last week, the Italian signed a new two-year deal with the Spanish team.

The 64-year-old’s previous deal was set to end at the end of June. He has been with Real since 2021 and was the club’s manager from 2013 to 2015. With Real, he won one league title. He also won two Champions Leagues and two Club World Cups.

“I had to pay off my lease on June 30.” “The club chose now because they’re pleased with our work,” Ancelotti told reporters on Tuesday before his team’s game at home against Mallorca.

“I’m not sure if this will be my last job as a coach.” When this is over, I don’t know what will happen. Based on how well I do, I might still be here in 2026….It’s important to me to stay as coach of Real Madrid until 2026. I hope I can keep this job in 2027 and 2028 as well.

Before signing the new deal, Ancelotti was linked with a move to the Brazil national team. Ednaldo Rodrigues, the former head of the Brazilian Football Association (CBF), said he was the best candidate for the job. But Ancelotti said that his main goal had always been to stay at Real.

“I was proud (to be considered), but it was all dependent on my situation with Real Madrid and that it was all clear,” he said.

“Right now, Eduardo is not president, and I’m able to stay here because everything went as planned.” Thoughts of being the Brazil coach were fun, but I’m not sure if they will hire me in 2026.

“I don’t know if they will be happy with this decision.” After 18 games, Real is ahead of Girona in La Liga by goal advantage.
