ISLAMABAD: An international airline passenger plane narrowly avoided an accident when its tail hit the runway during a failed landing attempt at Islamabad airport.

According to a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokeswoman, the flight arrived at Islamabad International Airport from Doha around 8 p.m. on Sunday.

The pilot encountered some trouble while landing, so he chose to take off and try landing again after going around, according to the official, who added that the pilot also alerted the control tower about this.

The tail of the aircraft collided with the runway during the procedure, but the pilot flew off, according to the spokeswoman.

He stated that the CAA has launched an investigation following the pilot’s medical test.

Two planes narrowly avoid a disaster at Karachi International Airport.
Two planes nearly avoided an accident at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport last year.

According to CAA authorities, a private airline aircraft from Karachi to Islamabad was scheduled to depart at 1 pm on August 20, 2022.

At 1:15, an Airbus A-320 took off from Runway 7R, while another Peshawar airline was one kilometer away on the same runway where it was meant to land.

According to aviation sources, one of the planes was taking off and the other was going to land from the same runway.

According to the reports, air traffic control instructed the pilot flying from Peshawar to “go around,” but the pilot allegedly rejected the request.
